The General Self-Efficacy Scale or GSES is designed for people ages 12 and up. It is used to assess perceived self-efficacy as it pertains to adaptation abilities and coping scales for both stressful events and daily activities.

Aim To assess reliability and validity of GSES in a large Chilean Constructed and tested a Chinese version of R. Schwarzer's (1993) General Self-Efficacy Scale. Using a sample of 293 university students, the internal consistency was .91. The scale was also completed by a bilingual sample of 43 Chinese students who filled out the English version followed, 3 wks later, by the Chinese version. The lagged correlation between both versions was .71.
